Channa
Masala
Garbanzo
Beans (Chick Peas) are cooked in several different ways -
Pindi style, Peshawari style or Punjabi style.
In
some recipes, the chickpeas are imparted dark color by adding
a couple of tea bags and given a certain sour taste by adding
either tamarind paste, mango powder (Amchoor) or by the addition
of dried ground pomegranate seeds. This unique dish can be
made with or without gravy.
The
Channa Masala may be savored with chapatti (Flat Bread), Bhatura
(Fried puffed bread), puree (fried thin flat bread) or simply
with basmati rice. The dish may be garnished with slices of
chili peppers, ginger, red onions and fresh cilantro leaves.
